MacBook Neo : Meet the newest member of the Mac family!

Apple’s laptop family is growing: the MacBook Neo joins the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro to offer a more accessible entry into macOS than ever before, with a lightweight design, efficient performance, and a vibrant display built for modern workflows. Let’s take a closer look!

MacBook Neo Design & Specifications

The new MacBook Neo looks very similar to the MacBook Air models you’re used to seeing everywhere: aluminum exterior, 13-inch Liquid Retina display, Magic Keyboard… but there are a few differences that set it apart. It doesn’t have the “chin” found on other models in the lineup, and it comes in a different range of colors: Silver, Cloud Pink, Citrus, and Indigo.

Here are the technical specifications of the MacBook Neo:

  • A18 Pro chip (2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores) with 8 GB of RAM
  • 256 GB or 512 GB of storage
  • 13-inch Liquid Retina display
  • 1080p FaceTime camera
  • One USB-C 3.0 port (up to 10 Gbps) and one USB-C 2.0 port (up to 480 Mbps)
  • Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6
  • Stereo speakers with spatial audio

The goal of the MacBook Neo is clear: to offer a balance between performance and price for users who need a Mac for everyday tasks without demanding workloads. And here’s the good news the MacBook Neo starts at just €699, less than two-thirds the price of a MacBook Air!

MacBook Neo Chip & Performance

You may recognize the A18 Pro chip from the iPhone 16 Pro and wonder: does it make sense for a Mac to run on an iPhone chip? The answer is yes — and with surprisingly strong results. Both macOS Tahoe and all its apps run perfectly, just as you’d expect from a Mac.

In addition, the A18 Pro chip enables up to 16 hours of continuous media playback. That means you can use it all day without worrying about battery life, and even charge other devices like your iPhone or AirPods through its USB-C ports. You can even use a standard 20W iPhone or iPad charger to power the MacBook Neo.

An interesting detail: despite using a chip originally designed for iPhone, the MacBook Neo can support an external 4K display at up to 60 Hz. This makes it easy to create a more comfortable desktop setup at home by connecting a keyboard and mouse.

The MacBook Lineup Now

With the arrival of the MacBook Neo, the MacBook lineup now looks like this:

  • MacBook Neo — with A18 Pro chip and 256 GB storage, ideal for general use
  • MacBook Air — with M5 chip and 512 GB storage, for those needing more performance and semi-professional tasks
  • MacBook Pro — with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, for maximum power and demanding professional workflows
